An alarming statistic like this would barely make it to being considered newsworthy; but for Dr.Shraddha Lunia & Vaishali Wagh, two first generation entrepreneurs from Nashik, this was a issue very close to the heart so much so they came together to take this cause to its right course, not by filing petitions advocating a ban on tissues but by creating a movement that would bring back people to fall in love with cloth again.
The result manifested in form of KERFS- India’s pioneering and most innovative brand of handkerchiefs launched in February 2016 at the prestigious E3 Samwaad at Nashik. Kerfs is a Brand owned by Wealth Zone Concept Clothing LLP, One of the Venture of E&G Group based in Nashik. KERFS’s catchy and contemporary brand name with a signature pyramid box packaging and category innovations are designed to make people aspire for a premium handkerchief.
Sold through a unique model of Women Entrepreneurs, the brand since its launch has created a network of 300+ Women Force across Nashik, Pune, Mumbai and Northern Maharashtra, empowering women to become financially independent and self-reliant.
Their efforts have been recently been recognized by the World Trade Council (WTC) and the All India Association of Industries (AIAI) in the form of an award for “EXCELLENCE IN WOMAN START UP BUSINESS AND INNOVATION”.
The award ceremony held at WTC Mumbai on 27th March 2017 saw thought leaders, policy makers, bureaucrats and entrepreneurs working towards the cause of women empowerment coming together over a 3 day summit. Distinguished Dr. Mukhisa Kituyi, Secretary-General, United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), Geneva, conferred the award to the winners.
